Marie Curie, also known as Madame Curie, whose real name is Maria Skladowska, was born on 7 November 1867 in Poland.
She was the first scientist to receive two Nobel Prizes for his work in radioactivity; the first is the 1903 Nobel Prize in Physics, the second is the 1911 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
She is the founder of the science of radiology. In 1894, Curie married her husband, Pierre Curie, who was also a scientist, in 1894. She died of blood cancer in Savoy, France, on 4 July 1934. The cause of his illness was exposure to too much radioactive material.
